** Every 1st and 3rd Saturday are National RED point events where you have the opportunity to earn GREEN points in the club and RED points nationally.

 
  Lessons

Tuesday Lesson May 7th with Mary Elson, 9.30 till 12.00

Mary will cover a topic with a growing popularity – Puppet Stayman.  Finding an 8-card major suit fit is still the highest probability way to achieve good scores, and we need to have the machinery to do this.   It is not a great idea to open 1 of a suit with 21 points, a balanced hand and a 5-card major.  There is far too much risk of partner passing and a game being missed.  Revamp your 2NT openings and responses and be sure of finding the best spot every time. Come along and have a fun and informative morning coming to grips with this very useful convention – 9.30 am till 12.00 noon.  Table fee is $18, no need to book in.

CLUB EVENTS

Rothfield Teams - A 3-week VBC club RED POINT event that commences on April 24th at 7:30pm.  Players are requested to be seated by 7:15pm.

There is a one-week recess on May 1st.  The 3 nights are April 24th , May 8th and May 15th  All entries for this event are through MyABF here.

STATE EVENTS

Ian McCance Swiss Pairs An event named in honour of Dr Ian McCance - one of Victoria's greatest players. The event will be held at the Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club over 3 Thursday nights from May 9th.

Victorian Restricted Pairs  This red-point event is limited to players with <300 masterpoints (as at 31/12/2023). The event is hosted at the VBC starting at 10am. All details and entry can be made here

The two highest finishing pairs in this event will each be provided with a generous subsidy by the Australian Bridge Federation and free entry to the Restricted Butler Pairs at this year’s Australian National Championships (ANC) in Orange NSW in July
